Sigo aqui // I'm still here

(For English scroll down)

“Has fallado a tus propias metas hoy, simplemente no eres tan confiable como creías.”

Yesterday was just one of those days when you wake up as the person you do not want to be. Everything contrary to my being manifested in such a tremulous day. In all the theme of today has been unreliability; mentally unreliable, emotionally unreliable, physically unreliable, and the list goes on. For a minute there was such despair that I felt as if I were sinking in a big pit of my own imperfection. The emotional me and the rational me entered into quite a loud battle between the mind and the heart, their respective habitats.

"This is not me," cried out the emotions and continued escalating, "This is absolutely not me!"

"What makes you so sure?" asked the rationale, thus infuriating the emotions, who seems to not really understand logic and reasoning. "You've failed your goals today, you're just not as reliable as you thought you were."

Two seconds goes by and the emotions commence in a wreck of tears and hyperventilation, "ah, what a failure! Baaaaaaaah!"

"No need to be dramatic. You're such a fool,"reasons the mind.

Yes, I know this all seems so grim, but it gets better. Soon enough the inner crossfire seems to subside and numbness took over. In the midst of my frustration with myself, I was forced to remain still and quiet. All of a sudden I could feel an embracing voice inside of me whispering, "I'm still here."

It was Him! No thunder, no lightning, no music, no spotlight, and no one else. Just Him with a tenderness that none compares to. Those three words were all I heard, but I needed no more to realize what was happening.

I had allowed my deceiving heart take over my daylight with the shadow of dislocated emotion. Sometimes the soul can be so loud, enough to break through the link between our spirit and the Holy Spirit. But, how humbling and undeservingly delightful it is when He finds the perfect way to show us that despite our humanity He is still there, just where we left Him, in that secret quiet place deep inside. "I'm still here" was all I needed for all the cares of today to disappear in His immense love for me.

He's still here. He'll never leave.

Describiendo "El Amor" // Describing "The Love"

(For English scroll down)

This week an anonymous reader asked me, "How would you describe love?" This is an excellent subject to start off my blog with. With all sincerity, my finite words will never reach even close to describing the wonder of love, as I will never be able to describe God, because they're both one in the same. Curiously, this week I bought Young's Literal Translation of the Bible. Its description of love in 1 Corinthians 13 and its direct approach has shifted my perspective. It says:

1 If with the tongues of men and of messengers I speak, and have not love, I have become brass sounding, or a cymbal tinkling; 2 and if I have prophecy, and know all the secrets, and all the knowledge, and if I have all the faith, so as to remove mountains, and have not love, I am nothing; 3 and if I give away to feed others all my goods, and if I give up my body that I may be burned, and have not love, I am profited nothing. 4 The love* is long-suffering, it is kind, the love doth not envy, the love doth not vaunt itself, is not puffed up, 5 doth not act unseemly, doth not seek its own things, is not provoked, doth not impute evil, 6 rejoiceth not over the unrighteousness, and rejoiceth with the truth; 7 all things it beareth, all it believeth, all it hopeth, all it endureth. 8 The love doth never fail; and whether [there be] prophecies, they shall become useless; whether tongues, they shall cease; whether knowledge, it shall become useless; 9 for in part we know, and in part we prophecy; 10 and when that which is perfect may come, then that which [is] in part shall become useless. 11 When I was a babe, as a babe I was speaking, as a babe I was thinking, as a babe I was reasoning, and when I have become a man, I have made useless the things of the babe; 12 for we see now through a mirror obscurely, and then face to face; now I know in part, and then I shall fully know, as also I was known; 13 and now there doth remain faith, hope, love—these three; and the greatest of these [is] love.

So, what do you think? My thought core is still vibrating at the fact that we take so many things as valuable, but without "the love" they are useless and de-merited of value; it doesn't matter how many years we may have dedicated to acquiring it, learning it, perfecting it, or treasuring it, whatever "it" is. In my mind I can describe love as that which makes living more than just having blood flowing through my veins or a heart beating in my chest; "the love" is that which makes what I do make sense, regardless of how important it may be or how insignificant it may seem. The love has allowed me to live, to really live; therefore, I must share it. Though I may not fully understand it, I can feel it every instant, and that is what's important about love... "The love."

*Note: Young's Literal Translation always refers to it as "The love," giving love a personification and the quality of uniqueness and true.

Blog Dia 1 // Blogging Day 1

(For English scroll down)

Bienvenidos a mi mundo.

Un día a la vez. Un paso a la vez. Sólo podemos continuar después de haber comenzado.

There was a time when life was simple. It seems like yesterday when the days were comprised of just careless childhood living. Now, though always a child at heart, I find myself in a complex twirl of existence, where the order of the day is to juggle through life, loved ones, work, household duties, travel, ministry, and thoughts of the future. On to that, today I add blogging, and I confess it’s something I’d been running from, but that’s a story for another day.

Today, I have decided to fling wide the doors of my heart and mind to all of you. It is my hope that with this blog you can see beyond the face on a CD cover or the voice singing on your music player, but the real person that I am—one that feels and yearns for God as much as I need Him, and who goes through processes that I hope to share here. I am far from extraordinary, but in me dwells the most extraordinary one, and His work in me continues as certain as the dawn follows the darkest night. Welcome to my world.

One day at a time. One step at a time. We can only continue if we begin.
